As a young boy, Julien Hakimian has done nothing but surpass all expectations when it came to sports. His career began in PAL soccer, a children’s soccer team, where he was the fastest, strongest, most determined on his team. As middle school approached, Hakimian found his true passion for soccer when he enlisted in his first travel team. As he entered eighth grade, his talent escalated to a whole new level when he was picked for North High’s Varsity soccer squad. Despite his outstanding talent, Hakimian does not take anything for granted, as his teammate Charlie Hakimi states. “A great player but an even better person, [Hakimian] always has a positive attitude and is very unselfish.”
In addition to varsity soccer, the junior has also been a part of North’s Varsity Tennis and Basketball teams since the eighth grade as well. Julien has proven to be a team player every time he walks out onto the court; putting his team before himself, Hakimian is always looking out for his teammates. “Being a four-year varsity soccer player as a junior has definitely taught me respect and how to work hard.” He explains. “Playing with older kids has not only helped me socially, but it has made me grow more mature. Also, it has shown me a way to schedule my time so I can make sure all my school work gets done.”
All the things he’s accomplished in his short four years is thanks to Coach Griffin, boys’ soccer coach and Hakimian’s long-time mentor; who is said to have had strongly influenced his students in a way that they would carry with them for the rest of their lives. “No coach has had a greater influence on me,” Julian proudly exclaimed. With his life clear and straight ahead of him, Hakimian hopes to enter the sports world once he graduates. Seeing as he’s already well admired as a student, teammate, and friend, his endeavors should not be difficult to achieve.
