It is the event some people have been anticipating for years now. Junior Event, also heartily nicknamed “Junior Prom,” is quickly approaching, and the pressure is on. Dates, dresses, shoes, suits, corsages, hair and makeup appointments. Just when it appeared that juniors had enough on their plate, this extravaganza comes along to remind them that it is not over yet. Serving as the bridge between AP exams and hectic finals, regents, and SAT subject tests, Junior Event is a phenomenon that has lied in the back of juniors’ minds for months now, and is finally earning the spotlight.
However, is it really worth it for juniors to start panicking over this one night? Junior Sandy Shaoolian says, “There is definitely an immense amount of pressure stress put on juniors as they have to find the perfect dress and the perfect date. On top of all of this, we are currently in one of the most important years of high school–we have many things on our minds other than prom.”
Additionally, as there has been some confusion surrounding the rumors that have been spreading about Junior Event, Dr. Krauz swiftly clears it up: “Only juniors will be attending the junior event. No dates, but of course if two juniors want to go together that will be OK.”
The most important thing, of course, is that this event is only meant as a night of celebration, entertainment, and unity between the Class of 2018. Junior Michelle Nazar says, “I think, although prom is seen as centered around dates, in reality there’s no need to have dates in order to have fun! Our officers have tried so hard to make it the best it can be at one of the most amazing places, so dates and dresses should not really be stressed over. It’s all about having fun with friends and being united as a grade. Sometimes people stress over having a date so much that they get caught up in themselves and forget to have a good time with it.”
So, dear juniors: STOP STRESSING OVER JUNIOR EVENT! There are many, more significant priorities to attend to, like standardized testing. Do not worry about getting asked by that cute guy or girl in English class whom has only been spoken to once. Just relax and enjoy the night that people have been working so hard to make possible.
